This assessment is carried out under the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005 ("RRFSO 2005"). Since 1 October 2023 (s.156, Building Safety Act 2022), a written fire risk assessment is required for ALL relevant premises — the former exemption for premises with fewer than 5 employees has been removed.

Commercial kitchen: extraction canopy filters and ductwork are cleaned to a documented schedule, deep-fat fryers are thermostatically protected and never left unattended, and a fire blanket and an extinguisher suitable for cooking oils (wet chemical) are provided in the kitchen. Water and foam extinguishers are not used on cooking oil fires.

5. PEOPLE AT RISK 5.1. People especially at risk Personal Emergency Evacuation Plans (PEEPs) are prepared for any member of staff or regular visitor who would need assistance to evacuate, and general arrangements are in place for visitors with mobility, hearing, or visual impairments.

Emergency plan: the evacuation procedure, the location of the assembly point, and the duties of anyone with a role in an evacuation are documented and communicated to all staff on induction. Fire drills are carried out at least once a year, and the date and outcome of each drill, alarm test, and equipment service are recorded in the fire logbook kept with this assessment.
