📌 Pinterest Product Feed

Automatic product feed (XML/CSV) for Pinterest Catalogs: product pins and Shopping ads

Documentation

Pinterest Product Feed — Products in Pinterest Catalogs

The "Pinterest Catalogs" extension (as the card is named in the App Store) exports your store's catalog to Pinterest Catalogs (a section of Pinterest Business, business.pinterest.com). Based on the catalog, Pinterest creates:

  • product pins — pins with up-to-date pricing, availability, and a direct link to the product;
  • a product showcase in the Shop section of your profile;
  • Shopping ads and dynamic catalog retargeting.

Pinterest is a platform with high purchasing intent in categories such as home goods, decor, apparel, jewelry, cosmetics, and gifts. Checkout directs customers to your store's storefront website.

The extension operates on a feed model without API keys: the platform generates a public product feed in Google Product Feed format (Pinterest accepts this schema) and updates it whenever product cards change. You only need to enter the feed URL in Pinterest Catalogs once.

The extension is not available everywhere. Unlike other product feeds, Pinterest has a restricted list of markets: the card is only displayed if at least one location of your account is located in a country where Pinterest supports advertising accounts — directly or through sales partners (59 countries, including the US, UK, EU countries, Canada, Australia, Brazil, Mexico, Japan, Turkey, Poland, Georgia, Kazakhstan). If your locations are outside this list, the card will not appear in the App Store — searching for it will yield no results. In addition, a general prerequisite applies: a plan with marketing tools (advertising and SEO).

Step 1. Connecting in Cenaly and Feed URL#

  1. Open the App Store (admin.cenaly.ru/app-store): integration cards are located in the main grid of the "Per account" tab along with the rest of the extensions.
  2. Find the "Pinterest Catalogs" card — searching by name is the fastest way.
  3. Click "Configure": settings will open in a modal window right over the showcase without navigating away from the page.
  4. In the window header, select the location for which you are connecting the export.
  5. Click "Connect" — there is no need to enter API credentials; the feed model has no keys.
  6. The card will display feed URLs in XML and CSV formats, with a copy button 📋 next to each line (shows "Copied" after clicking). URL format: https://cdn.cenaly.ru/feeds/pinterestfeed/{account-id}/{location-id}.xml (and .csv).

The title of the link block and the hint below are currently shared across all product feeds and mention Yandex Products — this is an interface inaccuracy: the links themselves point specifically to your Pinterest feed.

The feed is assembled from the location's catalog (retail mode) and regenerated upon connection and whenever a product card is modified — when a product is created or edited (name, price, stock in the card). Deducting stock via sales and deleting a product do not update the feed on their own yet — these changes are reflected upon the next card edit. Variations are exported as separate items with a shared item_group_id; prices take discounts (sale_price) and channel pricing rules into account, while stock levels consider the inventory buffer.

Step 2. Adding the Feed to Pinterest Catalogs#

  1. Log in to Pinterest Business (business.pinterest.com) and claim the domain of your storefront website (Pinterest requires domain claiming for catalogs).
  2. Open "Catalogs" in the business tools menu (Ads → Catalogs).
  3. Add a data source — feed via URL link.
  4. Specify the file URL — paste the feed link from step 1 (XML is recommended), select the country and language/currency.
  5. Save — Pinterest will start periodically fetching the feed.

Pinterest will process the feed and create Product Pins; then the catalog undergoes a review process. Once approved, the items become available for advertising and the Shop section.

Menu item names in Pinterest Business may change — look for the "Catalogs" section and adding a data source via URL.

Which format to choose: XML or CSV#

Pinterest accepts both. XML is preferred for variations and multiple images; CSV is convenient for manual inspection of content.

How Pinterest Fetches the Feed#

Pinterest downloads the feed itself on a schedule from the specified URL (typically daily). The platform regenerates the feed whenever a product card is edited, so the next fetch retrieves the data in the state it was last saved in the catalog. You do not need to submit the feed manually; the recommended update frequency is once a day.

Requirements and Common Issues#

  • Domain confirmation (claim). Pinterest requires you to claim ownership of the storefront website domain; otherwise, the catalog will not be accepted.
  • Working product links. The link must lead to a functioning product page — enable the web catalog (location storefront website). Product links in the feed are currently being checked: they are constructed from the location storefront address and are valid if the location has a custom domain configured (a full address with a dot). Until this is resolved, Pinterest may reject items for locations on a platform subdomain — verify the address in the downloaded feed before adding the data source.
  • Photos are required. Without image_link, the item is rejected; Pinterest prefers high-quality vertical images.
  • Currency and country. Must match the Pinterest account settings. There is currently no currency selection option in the integration interface: the feed is exported in USD. If the Pinterest catalog is maintained in another currency, this is also being checked — until resolved, the platform may reject items.
  • Moderation. The catalog undergoes review; prohibited categories are rejected.
  • Description and title. Fill in the text fields — this affects approval and Pin reach.

Frequently Asked Questions#

Are orders processed inside Pinterest?#

No — the customer follows a Product Pin to your store's storefront website and places the order there.

Is there a fee?#

There is no separate purchase for the extension: it is unlocked on subscription plans with marketing tools and connected per location. The catalog and Product Pins in Pinterest are free; you only pay for advertising in Pinterest Ads.

Do I need to export the feed manually?#

No. The platform regenerates the feed whenever an item card is edited, and Pinterest fetches it on a schedule. If an item is discontinued or its stock quantity changed only through a sale, open and save the card — this will update the export.

The catalog is not accepted — why?#

Most often, the domain is not claimed, photos are missing, or the catalog fails category verification. Product links and feed currency are currently being validated — until resolved, Pinterest may reject items for a location without a custom domain or for a catalog not in USD (see "Requirements and Common Issues").

I can't find the "Pinterest Catalogs" card in the App Store#

Most likely, none of your locations are in a country from the Pinterest market list — in that case, the extension is hidden completely (see the callout at the beginning of the article). Check the location's country in its card; the second reason is a plan without marketing tools.

How are product variants exported?#

Each variant is a separate item with a shared item_group_id.
