Cyprus: SIP providers and connecting a number to the PBX
This page continues the general guide on connecting a provider's number to the PBX: that page covers everything that is the same for any operator — the two trunk modes, what to ask the provider, what to enter in the form, network requirements and connection testing. Here you will find the Cypriot specifics: who in the country sells a number with a SIP trunk, what that provider issues and which of it you enter in Telephony → "Trunks and connections" → "Add provider".
The data was collected on 9 September 2026 from operator documentation, PBX vendor catalogues and materials of the regulator ΓΕΡΗΕΤ (OCECPR); the links are in the "Sources" section.
In brief#
- A number with a SIP trunk can be bought in Cyprus. The venue needs no licence: the service is provided by a Cypriot provider operating under the regulator's general authorisation, and you simply connect your own PBX to its trunk.
- The market is small and not public. There are four network operators — Cyta, epic, PrimeTel, Cablenet — plus a handful of VoIP providers. Almost none of them publishes the trunk host, port and codecs: they arrive by email after activation. There are two exceptions — Telxi with its permanent host
sip.telxi.comand CYPRUS P.B.X. with a ready-made Asterisk configuration example. - The first choice for a chain of venues is Cyta, the "Business Telephony for PBX Over the Internet" variant: the only operator in Cyprus with a public guide for an external PBX (and the only "preferred" provider in the 3CX catalogue), registration mode, unlimited national calls included in the monthly fee.
- For a single venue the cheapest entry is PrimeTel "SIP Number Registration": registration of one number (the login is the number itself), two simultaneous calls and a national number included. The fastest start with no local contract at all is Telxi: the trunk is issued from the customer portal immediately.
- ⚠️ The main local pitfall is that the word "trunk" at Cypriot operators means, by default, a handover over their own network, not over the Internet: at Cyta that is the "Over the Cyta network" variant with a second network interface on the PBX machine and manual static routes, at Cablenet it is "over Private IP". A cloud PBX cannot use such a handover. You have to ask explicitly for a "SIP trunk over the Internet" and say up front that the PBX sits in the cloud and has a static public IP.
- Documents. Local operators sell the trunk under a business contract; none of them offers self-service "pay by card and get a trunk". KYC on a Cypriot number is strict: international providers require a Cyprus-registered legal entity and proof of address, and number porting, according to industry summaries, is available only to entities established in Cyprus.
Numbers in the country#
- The country code is +357. The numbering plan is closed and eight-digit, with no national prefix and no leading zero at all: the number is dialled the same way inside the country and from abroad. The international prefix is
00plus the country code. - Fixed (geographic) numbers — series
2, format2ΧΧΧΧΧΧΧ, where the second digit is the area: 22 Nicosia, 23 Famagusta, 24 Larnaca, 25 Limassol, 26 Paphos. - Mobile numbers —
9ΥΧΧΧΧΧΧ. The series are assigned to operators in the numbering plan itself: 94 — Cablenet, 95 — PrimeTel, 96 — epic (formerly MTN), 97 and 99 — Cyta. - Other ranges:
800ΧΧΧΧΧ— freephone,80ΥΧΧΧΧΧ— shared cost,77ΧΧΧΧΧΧ— a single number across Cyprus (Universal Access Number, those "7777" numbers),700ΧΧΧΧΧ— personal numbers,900ΧΧΧΧΧ/909ΧΧΧΧΧ— premium. The emergency call number is the pan-European 112. - In E.164 a Cypriot number looks like
+357plus the same 8 digits:+357 22 251245.
⚠️ Eight-digit numbering and line matching. On the Lines tab the PBX matches the last seven digits of the incoming number against the line's number, so the provider's format does not matter — 22251245 and +35722251245 produce the same tail. But a Cypriot number has eight digits, which means the first one — the area or series digit — drops out of the matching: the numbers 22251245 (Nicosia) and 92251245 (mobile) are indistinguishable for the PBX and merge into one line. Enter lines as full eight-digit numbers and, if the venue has several numbers, check that their last seven digits do not coincide.
⚠️ The format of the incoming number differs between providers. Cyta and epic work with the national eight-digit number (in the 3CX templates for both, the main trunk number is entered as 22251245), Telxi uses E.164, while CYPRUS P.B.X. and PrimeTel in the "SIP Number Registration" mode send the trunk login instead of the number — in that case the line cannot be matched by number, but with a single number this does not matter (see "The provider sends its login instead of the number").

The first six rows are providers whose parameters (host, mode, codecs) are known in advance from documentation or from PBX vendor certifications: their cards are below. The rest are covered in a separate section — there either the mode has not been announced publicly, or a trunk to a third-party PBX is not confirmed.
Cyta#
The country's incumbent (the semi-state Cyprus Telecommunications Authority). The service is called Business Telephony for PBX: connecting the customer's PBX to the Cyta network over SIP, unlimited national calls to fixed and mobile numbers of all operators within the monthly fee, scaling of the number count, forwarding of all incoming calls to a backup site.
You apply through the business line 150 or the form on the website. The trunk comes in two variants, and this is the key choice: "Over the Internet (requires a Static Public IP Address)" — "for users that may have their PBX installed anywhere in the world or hosted in the Cloud", which is our case; and "Over the Cyta copper/fibre network" — only when the PBX physically stands at a site with a Cyta network (it needs a second network interface, manual static routes to their servers and an address from their WAN network). Sales agents offer the second one by default — insist on the first in writing.
After activation Cyta sends by email: the Registration/Authentication Number, the allocated telephone number, the Outbound Proxy server, the Username for Authentication and the Password.
What to enter in the admin panel
| Field | Value |
|---|---|
| SIP host | the Outbound Proxy server from the Cyta email — the operator has no permanent public host |
| Port | 5060, unless a different one is stated in the email |
| Transport | UDP, unless the operator names a different one |
| Registration | ✅ REGISTER — "Register with the provider" |
| Login | the Registration/Authentication Number from the email |
| Password | the Password from the email |
What to set up with the provider: order the service explicitly as a "SIP Trunk over the Internet", stating that the PBX is in the cloud → give the operator the "Static IP" value from the "Server" tab → receive the email with the credentials → route the numbers to the trunk → create lines as full eight-digit numbers.
Pitfalls ⚠️
- Three credential values instead of two. Cyta issues the
Registration/Authentication Number, theUsername for Authenticationand thePasswordseparately (in 3CX they go into "Authentication ID", "3 Way Authentication Password" and "Authentication Password"), while our form has two fields — "Login" and "Password". Ask the Cyta engineer whether the Authentication Number and the Username are the same: if they are, the trunk is created as usual; if they are not, write to our support — separate values for authentication and for identification are enabled on the server side. - The public address in the signalling. For the "Over the Internet" variant Cyta expects to see the PBX's public address; a dedicated PBX has a static one and it is inserted automatically, no separate setting in the form is required.
- The operator does not publish the port, transport, codecs and DTMF — they arrive together with the credentials. Check that G.711 a-law is enabled on the trunk: our PBX does not support G.729.

PrimeTel#
The largest private operator in Cyprus, with its own VoIP backbone. It has two products for a third-party PBX:
- SIP Trunk over Internet — "for users that may have their PBX system installed anywhere in the world or hosted in the Cloud and requires a Static Public IP Address", from 4 to 32 channels and more;
- SIP Number Registration — registration of one number "for users and companies that may need one single number registration": two simultaneous calls, one national number included, the number works from anywhere as long as there is Internet.
PrimeTel is the only Cypriot operator that publicly lists exactly what it will send by email: SIP Signaling IP Addresses / SIP Port, SIP Media IP Addresses, transport, codecs, packet size, DTMF, fax, Authentication and Number of Digits send/receive from PBX. For number registration the set is shorter: Username for Authentication (which is the allocated number), Password, Domain.
What to enter in the admin panel
| Field | Value |
|---|---|
| SIP host | the Domain from the email (for number registration) or the SIP Signaling IP Address (for the trunk) |
| Port | the SIP Port from the email, usually 5060 |
| Transport | the SIP Signaling transport Protocol from the email, usually UDP |
| Registration | ✅ REGISTER for "SIP Number Registration"; for the trunk — as per the Authentication field in the email |
| Login | the Username for Authentication — in number registration this is the allocated number itself |
| Password | the Password from the email |
What to set up with the provider: choose the product (one venue with one number — "SIP Number Registration", several numbers and channels — "SIP Trunk over Internet") → for the trunk, give them the PBX's static IP → agree the Number of Digits send/receive from PBX, asking for the full eight-digit number in incoming calls → confirm the codecs: we need alaw, ulaw or g722.
Pitfalls ⚠️ Two channels in "SIP Number Registration" are a hard ceiling: a venue with a call queue at peak hours will hit it immediately. The operator names the SIP Signaling IP Addresses in the plural, while the trunk form takes one host: if PrimeTel calls from an address other than the one you entered, the incoming call will not be recognised — ask for the list of addresses and agree on the primary one. While the PBX is unavailable, the operator offers emergency forwarding of all trunk numbers with the codes 44XXXXXXXX (on) and 45XXXXXXXX (off), as well as a voice menu on 77776012 (a PIN is required).

Cablenet#
The third network operator (Cablenet Communication Systems PLC, United Group) with its own fibre. The product is SIP Trunks, "available over Private IP or over the internet (OTT), suitable for existing PBX integration"; installation and equipment go through integration partners, and requests are made from the website or by phone 120.
The operator does not publish technical parameters, but the trunk is certified by the PBX vendor Yeastar (tested on P-Series): the provider type is "Register & Peer", which means both modes are supported, the codecs are ulaw and alaw, and the tone dialling is RFC 2833. That is exactly what our PBX can do.
What to enter in the admin panel
| Field | Value |
|---|---|
| SIP host | the address issued by Cablenet at activation — there is no permanent public host |
| Port | 5060, unless the connection documents state another one |
| Transport | UDP, unless the operator names another one |
| Registration | your choice: ✅ REGISTER (simpler) or ⬜ by IP — then give the operator the PBX's static IP |
| Login | the trunk account from the connection documents (in registration mode) |
| Password | the trunk password from the same documents |
What to set up with the provider: submit the request explicitly as a "SIP Trunk OTT" — the "over Private IP" variant means a private handover that does not reach a cloud PBX → give them the PBX's static IP (mandatory in IP mode, useful with registration too) → route the numbers to the trunk → confirm that alaw/ulaw are enabled on the trunk.
Pitfalls ⚠️ The SIP trunk section on the operator's website contains no technical parameters at all and leads to an "Apply now" form — everything depends on the integration partner, and you will have to ask the same partner for traces when troubleshooting. A workaround if the integrator is slow: the Cypriot host CYPRUS P.B.X. keeps its servers in the Cablenet data centre and ports numbers to itself "from any Telecom provider".

Telxi#
An international self-service provider (portal.telxi.com): instant trunk provisioning, DIDs, pay-as-you-go. What matters for Cyprus is that it is listed both in the 3CX catalogue for Cyprus (next to Cyta, epic and Twilio) and in the Yeastar certification for Cyprus — so it does have Cypriot inventory and no contract with a local office is needed. Yeastar tested it as a "Register Trunk" with the codecs ulaw, alaw, g722, g729a and GSM and RFC 2833 tone dialling.
What to enter in the admin panel
| Field | Value |
|---|---|
| SIP host | sip.telxi.com |
| Port | 5060 |
| Transport | UDP (TLS and SRTP are optional at the provider and are not supported for trunks on our side) |
| Registration | ✅ REGISTER — authentication by the trunk account |
| Login | the trunk account ID from the portal |
| Password | the trunk password from the same place |
What to set up with the provider: register in the portal and pass the document check → create a SIP trunk (issued immediately) → buy a Cypriot number of the required area (22–26) → route it to the trunk → enter numbers in the international format, as the provider requires.
Pitfalls ⚠️ Telxi is not a Cypriot operator but an international provider with Cypriot numbers. For incoming calls this does not matter, but outgoing calls with a Cypriot number travel worse over an international route: according to industry reviews of 2026, Cyprus is among the countries where, since 1 July 2025, a national fixed Caller ID delivered over international routes is subject to a surcharge (we have not seen a regulator decision with such wording — check with the provider). The practical conclusion: for outgoing calls with a local number a Cypriot operator is safer, while Telxi is good for incoming calls and as a quick start.

KCM Telecom#
A Cypriot corporate provider from Limassol: cloud PBX, call centre, SIP trunks, local and international numbers, number porting. It promises "Tier 1 and Tier 2 routes only — no grey routes", "bring your existing numbers or virtually any PBX" and a 30-day free test with a €100 call credit — so the setup can be verified before paying.
There are no parameters on the website; the trunk is certified by Yeastar (P-Series Cloud Edition): the provider type is "Register Trunk", the codecs are ulaw, alaw, g729a, and tone dialling is RFC 2833.
What to enter in the admin panel
| Field | Value |
|---|---|
| SIP host | the address issued in the KCM account — there is no permanent public host |
| Port | 5060, unless another one is stated in the account |
| Transport | UDP, unless the provider names another one |
| Registration | ✅ REGISTER — the provider has certified no other mode |
| Login | the trunk account from the customer portal |
| Password | the trunk password from the same place |
What to set up with the provider: request the free test and state explicitly in the request that you need a trunk to your own PBX (Asterisk), not their cloud PBX → order a Cypriot number or port an existing one → make sure alaw is enabled on the trunk and G.729 is not forced.
Pitfalls ⚠️ The company primarily sells its own cloud PBX, and sales agents will offer exactly that by default; the phrase "virtually any PBX" is marketing, and the actual parameters are issued only by an account manager. Ask for them in writing using the list from "What to ask the provider".

CYPRUS P.B.X.#
A Cypriot company (Limassol, since 2011) with a cloud PBX and the "Register SIP trunk over public Internet" service: a trunk with registration for 2, 4 or 8 simultaneous calls, porting of Cypriot numbers, international numbers, a demo account on request. Its servers are in the Cablenet data centre and in Germany and Finland.
This is the only provider in the country with a public Asterisk configuration example: after activation the portal shows the Username, password and domain, and the documentation contains a ready-made fragment with the registration username:password@domain_name, RFC 2833 tone dialling and media through the PBX — all of which matches our defaults.
⚠️ But the same example allows exactly one codec — G.729, while our PBX speaks only G.711 a-law, G.711 µ-law and G.722. In that form the setup will not work: registration will come up and the call will arrive, but the audio will fail to negotiate and the call will drop. Before paying, ask the provider in writing to enable G.711 a-law (PCMA) on the trunk — G.729 is usually set to save bandwidth, and alaw is enabled on request. With that confirmation this provider becomes the most predictable one in the country; without it, choose another.
What to enter in the admin panel (after G.711 a-law is confirmed)
| Field | Value |
|---|---|
| SIP host | the domain from the CYPRUS P.B.X. portal |
| Port | 5060 |
| Transport | UDP |
| Registration | ✅ REGISTER |
| Login | the Username from the portal |
| Password | the password from the portal |
What to set up with the provider: request a demo account or buy a trunk for the required number of channels → obtain written confirmation of G.711 a-law → port a Cypriot number or order a new one → keep in mind that incoming calls arrive on the trunk login rather than on the number: with a single number you may skip creating a line altogether.
Pitfalls ⚠️ The provider's guide is written for the old Asterisk module (chan_sip), while our PBX runs on pjsip: the field values map one to one, but support will call them by their old names — use the table above as your reference.

Operators "by contract" and providers with IP authentication#
epic, S.P. Intelligent Telecoms, ImpacTech, Fusion IT — what is known
- epic (formerly MTN Cyprus, owned by Monaco Telecom) is the second largest operator. Its SIP Trunk product is described as being "for businesses with an On-Premise PBX and 4 or more lines", "may be offered through any broadband access medium"; the plans are Internet SIP8/16/25/50 for 8/16/25/50 simultaneous calls and 25/75/100/300 fixed numbers. The very name "Internet SIP" suggests that the handover can go over the Internet. In the 3CX catalogue epic is listed as a supported provider with one requirement: the main trunk number must be entered in the national format (
22251245). The authentication mode, host, port and codecs are not announced publicly — an account manager names them (business line131). ⚠️ The entry plan is 8 channels and 25 numbers: that is excessive for a single café, so epic makes sense for a chain of venues. - S.P. Intelligent Telecoms is a VoIP provider from Nicosia (
intelligenttelecoms.eu, phone+357 22 030030): Cypriot and international numbers, a cloud PBX. According to the Yeastar certification the trunk works by IP, without registration ("Peer Trunk, port based"), with the codecsa-lawandu-lawand RFC 2833 tone dialling. The host (the address of their SBC) is issued at connection. The order of actions: give the provider the static IP of our PBX for the allowlist, obtain the address of their SBC and enter it in the "SIP host" field, and clear the registration checkbox. ⚠️ In IP mode the address the provider calls from must match the host you entered — otherwise incoming calls are not recognised. ⚠️ The domainintelligenttelecoms.comis up for sale and has nothing to do with this provider. - ImpacTech / Impact Telecom is a Cypriot group from Limassol whose telecom arm sells international termination, numbers and cloud solutions. According to the Yeastar certification it is also IP authentication, with the codecs
a-law,u-law,G729and RFC 2833 tone dialling. It publishes no documentation of its own for connecting an external PBX. ⚠️ Its customer profile is outgoing call centre traffic: an incoming number for a single restaurant is of little interest to them, and an individual quote will take time. - Fusion IT Consultants is an Internet and telephony provider from Paphos with a public price list (a Cypriot number for €5/month, international ones for €5–10/month, an extension for €3/month) and free round-the-clock support. It sells a cloud or on-premise PBX; a trunk to a third-party PBX is not explicitly offered and no parameters are published. It works as "someone nearby who will do it" for a venue in Paphos — but the number will come from one of the four operators, and the SLA will be their own.
Ask all of the above for their parameters using the list from "What to ask the provider" and enter them in the same form as for everyone else.
International providers with numbers of this country#
Cypriot numbers are also sold by international providers; their trunk parameters are the same for all countries — take them from the provider's card in the admin panel catalogue or from the "Add provider" section. Here are only the Cypriot specifics:
- DIDWW — Cypriot numbers are broken down by area:
+357 22Nicosia,-23Famagusta,-24Larnaca,-25Limassol,-26Paphos, national+357 77and freephone+357 800. Mobile and shared-cost numbers are not available for Cyprus. Subscriber registration is required for local and national numbers and is not required for freephone800— the simplest route for a foreign legal entity with no Cypriot presence. - Zadarma — fixed numbers of all five areas and national
77numbers; Nicosia costs from $6/month with two incoming channels, and the number is assigned at random. KYC is strict: if the number is registered to a legal entity, that entity must be registered in Cyprus, plus a passport or ID and a proof of address no older than 6 months. ⚠️ Its Cypriot national77numbers cannot be used for outgoing calls — reception only. - Telnyx — Cyprus is supported and there is a dedicated porting procedure: a Letter of Authority with a local address for local numbers, the last invoice from the previous operator, the company registration certificate, the representative's ID and a proof of address.
- Twilio — the 3CX catalogue for Cyprus lists it alongside Cyta and epic, so it does have Cypriot numbers. On our side it works in IP authentication mode.
- didlogic — certified by Yeastar in the Cypriot list specifically (Register & Peer, codecs
ulaw,alaw,g722,g729a), so it has Cypriot inventory as well. - Common to all international providers in this market: Caller ID is allowed only with your own number; for outgoing calls with a Cypriot fixed number a local operator is safer (see the pitfalls in the Telxi card); check access to the emergency number
112separately for any international provider's number.
Number porting#
- Porting works and is regulated by ΓΕΡΗΕΤ: the regulator has a dedicated "Φορητότητα" section with the procedures. Geographic numbers can be ported within the same geographic area, as well as mobile and non-geographic numbers. You cannot change the area together with the provider: a
25…number stays a Limassol number. - Porting is initiated by the receiving provider. At PrimeTel, porting number ranges comes "without limitations on number of DIDs and at no extra cost or fixed charge"; at Cablenet, CYPRUS P.B.X. and KCM Telecom it is a standard service; Zadarma ports a Cypriot number free of charge.
- ⚠️ According to industry summaries, only an entity established in Cyprus can port a number (we did not find this wording from the regulator itself — check with the receiving provider). For a foreign company without a Cypriot legal entity it is more practical to take a new number from an international provider than to port an existing one.
- Timeframes are published neither by the regulator nor by the operators — ask the receiving provider when you submit the application.
- An emergency workaround while porting is available at PrimeTel: the codes
44XXXXXXXXand45XXXXXXXXswitch unconditional forwarding of all trunk numbers to another Cypriot number on and off (a PIN is required).
Rules and documents#
Regulator, authorisation of operators, KYC, emergency calls, call recording, the north of the island
- There is no VoIP licence — there is a general authorisation by notification. The regulator is ΓΕΡΗΕΤ / OCECPR. A company that wants to provide electronic communications services files a registration declaration and is entered into the register of authorisations; the venue, as a subscriber, files nothing — that is the provider's duty. ΓΕΡΗΕΤ allocates the numbering resource to operators, and they in turn sub-allocate it to subscribers.
- A geographic number is tied to its area. The subscriber's place of business must be located in the corresponding geographic area — that is, a
25…number is for venues in Limassol, not in Paphos. This wording comes from a VoIP provider's summary of country restrictions; the text of the Cypriot numbering plan does not explicitly address nomadic use, so ask the provider if you want a number from another area. - KYC on the number requires a Cypriot presence. At Zadarma the condition is stated directly: the legal entity must be registered in Cyprus, plus an identity document and a proof of address no older than 6 months. At DIDWW registration is mandatory for local and national numbers and not needed for freephone ones. At Telnyx, porting requires a Letter of Authority with a local address. Local operators require the usual business contract.
- Caller ID. We found no separate Cypriot ban on number spoofing. However, according to industry reviews, since 1 July 2025 Cyprus has been among the countries where a national fixed Caller ID delivered over international routes is subject to a surcharge (we have not seen a regulator decision with such wording). The practical conclusion: send outgoing calls with a Cypriot number through a Cypriot operator.
- Emergency calls use the pan-European
112. When ordering the trunk you give the provider the installation address: that is what will be passed to the emergency service. Ask for written confirmation of112access on the trunk — a venue without it carries a legal risk. - Call recording follows the general EU regime: GDPR plus the Cypriot data protection and communications privacy laws. There is no separate "telephony" permit; the practice is the same as everywhere — a recording notice at the start of the conversation, enabled in the location settings.
- ⚠️ The north of the island is a different country for telephony. The occupied territory uses the Turkish numbering plan (
+90 392) and Turkish operators, and we do not create a dedicated PBX for locations in Turkey (see the country list in the overview). A venue in Kyrenia or Famagusta on that side is left with a Cypriot+357number from a provider of the Republic or with an international number.
If it does not work#
| Symptom | Cypriot cause | What to do |
|---|---|---|
| The operator offers a "trunk" that cannot be connected from anywhere | This is a handover over the operator's network: at Cyta the "Over the Cyta network" variant (a second network interface, static routes), at Cablenet "over Private IP" | Rephrase the request: "a SIP trunk over the Internet to our PBX in the cloud, static public IP, G.711, UDP, no TLS" |
| Registration with Cyta does not come up although the credentials are correct | The operator issued different Registration/Authentication Number and Username for Authentication, while the form has two fields |
Ask the Cyta engineer whether the values are the same; if they are not, write to our support — the separation is enabled on the server side |
| The call arrives but no line matches | The provider sends the national 8 digits while the line was created differently; or the provider sends the trunk login instead of the number (CYPRUS P.B.X., PrimeTel in number registration mode) | Create the line with the full eight-digit number; if the login is sent instead of the number, you may skip the line when there is only one number |
| Two of the venue's numbers lead to the same rule | A Cypriot number has 8 digits while matching uses the last seven — the first digit drops out and the numbers merge | Check the tails of all the tenant's numbers; if they coincide, separate the calls by schedule or routing rules rather than by lines |
| Silence in one or both directions | The negotiation fell back to G.729 — the only codec in the public CYPRUS P.B.X. configuration, and it is present at KCM Telecom and ImpacTech | Ask the provider to keep G.711 a-law as the preferred codec on the trunk |
| Registered, but incoming calls do not always arrive (PrimeTel, IP mode) | The operator calls from several signalling addresses while the form contains a single host | Request the full list of addresses and agree on the primary one; in IP mode this is critical |
Causes that do not depend on the country are in "If calls do not go through"; the address and port check is in "Test the connection"; outgoing calls and number substitution are in "Outgoing calls".
Frequently asked questions#
Which provider should I choose if nothing is connected yet?#
For a single venue — PrimeTel "SIP Number Registration": the login is the same as the number, a national number is included, two simultaneous calls are enough for a small café, and no static IP is required on the provider's side. For a chain of venues — Cyta "Business Telephony for PBX / Over the Internet": unlimited national calls within the monthly fee and the only public guide in the country for an external PBX. If you need a number today and without a local contract — Telxi, where the trunk is issued from the customer portal immediately.
Why do Cypriot operators have no tables with a host and a port?#
Because they do not publish them: the host, port, codecs and the format of the incoming number arrive by email after the service is activated. The only exceptions are Telxi with its permanent host sip.telxi.com and CYPRUS P.B.X. with a public configuration example. For the rest, the tables show which field of the email goes where — request those values using the list from "What to ask the provider".
What is wrong with CYPRUS P.B.X. if it has the most detailed documentation?#
Only the codec. The official configuration example allows a single codec, G.729, while our PBX speaks G.711 a-law, G.711 µ-law and G.722. With that set, registration comes up but the audio fails to negotiate. Providers usually enable G.711 a-law on request — get written confirmation, and this provider becomes one of the best options in the country.
Is an eight-digit number enough for correct line routing?#
For a single number, yes. The problem appears when the venue has several Cypriot numbers: the PBX matches the last seven digits, while a Cypriot number has eight, so the first digit (the area or series) does not take part in the matching. The numbers 22251245 and 92251245 become one line for the PBX. Create lines with full eight-digit numbers and check in advance that the seven-digit tails of your numbers differ.
Can I get a Cypriot number if my company is registered outside Cyprus?#
Technically yes, but the choice narrows. At international providers, Cypriot fixed numbers require documents with a Cypriot link (at Zadarma, a Cyprus-registered legal entity outright), and porting an existing number is, according to industry summaries, available only to entities established in Cyprus. The simplest route without a local entity is a freephone +357 800 number at DIDWW, which requires no subscriber registration; keep in mind, though, that freephone numbers are intended for calls within the country.
