Armenia: SIP providers and connecting a number to the PBX

We do not issue numbers: the venue buys an Armenian number from a local operator and brings it into its own PBX as a trunk. The common steps — trunk modes, form fields, network and testing — are covered in the overview "Connecting a provider number to the PBX"; this page covers only what is specific to Armenia: where to get the number, what the operator issues and what of it goes into the admin panel.

The data on this page was collected on 9 September 2026 from operator websites, the national numbering plan and regulator (PSRC) publications; the links are in "Sources".

In brief#

  • You can buy a number with a SIP trunk in Armenia. The venue needs no permit of its own: it is the operator that holds the licence and the numbering resource, and you are simply its subscriber under a contract.
  • The first candidate is Ucom. It is the only Armenian operator that allows SIP in writing: the uPhone Corporate 3800 plan comes with non-geographic 060 numbers, and its description says explicitly that such numbers "can also be used for SIP telephony". The mode is registration (REGISTER).
  • Second and third come Viva Armenia and OVIO. Viva has a product literally called SIP Trunk (up to 10 simultaneous calls "via a PBX and an IP phone"), and OVIO's price list has a line for a "SIP port" at ֏500 per month per line, meaning a SIP account for external equipment is a standard item for them.
  • The main local pitfall: not a single Armenian operator publishes its SIP parameters. No host, no port, no codecs, no guide for a third-party PBX — everything is issued when the service is activated. You cannot connect "following the instructions on the operator's website" the way you can in Poland or Turkey: first the request to the corporate department, then the setup.
  • The second pitfall is that an Armenian number is longer than what the PBX matches. The national number here is exactly 8 digits, while a line is identified by its last seven: two numbers that differ only in the first digit of the code (010 651234 and 060 651234, mobile 094 and 044) have the same tail. What to do about it is in "Numbers in the country".
  • Documents. For business plans Ucom asks for the company name and tax number (ՀՎՀՀ); OVIO accepts an application from an individual with a passport. Neither operator publishes terms for non-residents — ask before you pay.
  • In any case the trunk only works on a dedicated PBX with a static IP — how the two trunk modes work is described in the overview.

Numbers in the country#

The country code is +374, and the national number is always 8 digits (National Numbering Plan of Armenia, ITU publication of 30 April 2026).

  • Yerevan has four codes, and each belongs to its own operator (2-digit code + 6-digit number): 10 — Telecom Armenia (Team), 11 — Ucom, 12 — GNC-Alfa (OVIO), 15 — CrossNet. The code alone tells you whose number it is.
  • Regions — a 3-digit code + 5-digit number: Gyumri 312, Vanadzor 322, Abovyan 222, Hrazdan 223, Echmiadzin 231, Kapan 285, Meghri 286 and so on.
  • Mobile — a 2-digit code + 6 digits: Telecom Armenia — 91, 96, 97, 99, 43, 33; Viva Armenia — 77, 88, 93, 94, 98; Ucom — 41, 44, 55, 95.
  • Code 60 is for non-geographic fixed telephony numbers, and this is the working numbering range of Armenian VoIP: Ucom, Team and CrossNet all sell business telephony primarily on 060. The ranges are assigned to operators by name: Ucom — 38, 42, 44, 5054, 65; OVIO — 46, 7175; Team — 8385; CrossNet — 37, 40, 43, 4749; Viva Armenia — 61, 6770, 77, 78, 80, 81; the rest belong to Arpinet, Netsys, Gtel, Hnet, Web, Arm Telecom and Hi-Tech Gateway.
  • Dialling: inside the country it is 0 + code + number (010 XXXXXX, 060 XXXXXX, 093 XXXXXX), from abroad +374 + code + number. On outgoing calls your number is sent as E.164 without the plus sign — 37460XXXXXX.

⚠️ An important consequence of the number length. On the "Lines" tab a number may be entered in any format: the PBX matches the last seven digits. With an 8-digit Armenian number the first digit of the code is therefore dropped, so numbers that differ only in that digit are indistinguishable to the PBX: 010 651234 and 060 651234, 011… and 061…, 012… and 062…, 015… and 065…, mobile 094 and 044, 097 and 077, 093 and 043, 098 and 088, 095 and 055, 091 and 041. While you have a single number this changes nothing — the call is accepted either way. If you have two numbers and their tails coincide, a call may hit the routing rule of the wrong line: when ordering the second number, ask the operator to pick one with a different ending.

Special numbers: 0-800, short and emergency
What How it looks Who issues it
Toll-free for the caller 0-800 XXXXX Ucom (incoming from Armenia only), OVIO ("Free Phone": ֏80,000 setup, ֏5,000 monthly)
Short 4-digit code 8 + 3 digits Ucom — ֏8,000 per month, offered among other things "for SIP"
Emergency 112 Since 15 February 2026 Armenia has a single 112 number replacing the former 911, 102 and 101. Calls to it are free with every operator

A number from an international provider gives no access to 112 — as the venue's only number it will not do.

The first three rows are the operators whose public materials show that the number is issued as an ordinary SIP account which can be used in a third-party PBX; the tables "What to enter in the admin panel" below are for them. Everything else local means negotiating with a corporate department. Zadarma and DIDWW have no Armenian numbers at all.

Ucom#

The largest converged operator in the country: mobile and fixed telephony, internet and TV. Its business telephony lives in two plans — uPhone Corporate 3800 (non-geographic 060 numbers, ֏3,800 per month) and uPhone Corporate 2500 (geographic Yerevan 011 and regional numbers, ֏2,500). Both include 360 minutes to fixed networks in Armenia, the USA and Canada; calls to Armenian fixed numbers cost ֏4–5 per minute and to mobiles ֏24.

One phrase in the 3800 plan description matters to us: 060 numbers "can also be used for SIP telephony". It is the only written permission for SIP from an Armenian operator. Sold separately are 0-800 numbers (incoming from Armenia only) and a 4-digit short number at ֏8,000 per month, which the operator itself offers "for V-Office and SIP".

What to enter in the admin panel (Telephony → "Trunks and connections" → "Add provider" → the "SIP trunk (custom provider)" card):

Field Value
SIP host The address of Ucom's outbound proxy — issued at activation in the confirmation letter or the contract; there is no public value
Port 5060
Transport UDP
Registration Register with the provider (REGISTER)
Username The login from the contract (usually the number itself, as 374 60 XXXXXX)
Password The password of the Ucom SIP account

The port, transport, codec and authentication mode are known not from the operator's website but from the configuration of a subscriber who set up a trunk to Ucom and published his settings in the FreePBX community (2019): UDP 5060, registration with a password, the G.711 µ-law codec, RFC 2833 tone dialling. Our PBX supports all of that, but the values are worth confirming with the operator in writing.

What to set up on the provider's side: order uPhone Corporate 3800 with an 060 number and ask the corporate department for a SIP account for an external PBX — server address, username, password and the number of simultaneous channels (the plan page does not state it); clarify in which format the number arrives on an incoming call and whether the G.711 A-law and G.722 codecs are allowed in addition to µ-law. The full list of questions is in "What to ask the provider".

Pitfalls ⚠️

  • Do not guess the host name. Names such as sip.ucom.am and voip.ucom.am do not exist in DNS at all (checked 09.09.2026) — only the address issued by the operator belongs in the SIP host field. On a typo the operator's platform answers with a "Bad DNS Request" error and there will be no registration.
  • For the subscriber on the forum, outgoing calls to mobiles went through while calls to Yerevan 010… numbers did not: that is dial-rule tuning on the operator's side. Allow time to configure outgoing calls.
  • The operator's own cloud PBX is called vOffice — you do not need it, ask for the trunk only.

Viva Armenia (Viva-MTS)#

The largest mobile operator in Armenia. Its business section has a service literally called SIP Trunk: up to 10 simultaneous calls "via a PBX and an IP phone", a mobile number included, free calls inside the corporate group. Prices as of 09.09.2026: Mini ֏2,000 (500 minutes), Mini+ ֏3,500 (1,000), Standard ֏8,500 (2,500), Business ֏16,500 (5,000); beyond the bundle it is ֏4–20 per minute to local networks, ֏15 to fixed numbers and ֏35 to other mobile networks. An additional line costs ֏500 per month.

Next to it the operator sells a fixed-telephony plan called SIP Talk (֏1,000 per month, 200 minutes to 010/011/012/060): its description says it works "via an IP phone or any other device with the required software" — that is, the account is an ordinary SIP one, and an external PBX is as much a client for it as a softphone.

What to enter in the admin panel

Field Value
SIP host The address of Viva's server — issued when the service is activated; there is no public value
Port 5060, unless the operator names another
Transport UDP, unless the operator names another
Registration Register with the provider (REGISTER). If the operator offers IP authentication, clear the checkbox and give them the static IP of your PBX
Username The SIP trunk login from the contract
Password The SIP trunk password

Viva does not publish its trunk parameters: 5060, UDP and registration here are ordinary SIP defaults rather than values announced by the operator. Ask the manager for them at activation and write the answer down.

What to set up on the provider's side: order a SIP Trunk of the right size (the number of simultaneous lines is exactly the "lines" of the plan, ֏500 for each one beyond the bundle); request the server address, port, transport, codecs and authentication mode; ask them to route the number straight to the trunk rather than to their virtual PBX. Department contacts: B2B@vivaarmenia.am, +374 60 610000.

Pitfalls ⚠️ The ceiling of 10 simultaneous calls is a ceiling of the product, which is little for a call centre. And the number included is a mobile one: a guest sees it as calling a mobile phone, whereas a Yerevan 010/011/012 number inspires more confidence — a landline number has to be ordered separately.

OVIO (formerly GNC-Alfa)#

A fixed telephony and internet operator, holder of the Yerevan code 012 and of the 060 ranges 46, 7175; until 2024 it traded as GNC-Alfa. What makes it interesting are two lines of its price list that no one else in the country has: a "SIP port" at ֏500 per month per line and a "monthly fee for calls through another operator's trunk" at ֏5,000 per month. In other words, a SIP account for external equipment and someone else's trunk are standard options for them.

The rest of the price list: an external line (number) ֏2,000, an internal number ֏400, two simultaneous lines included, each further one ֏1,500, a voice menu ֏3,000, 500 minutes to Armenian fixed networks included and then ֏4 per minute to local networks and ֏19 to mobiles, support ֏500 per month.

What to enter in the admin panel

Field Value
SIP host The address of the OVIO platform — issued together with the "SIP port" service; there is no public value
Port 5060, unless the operator names another
Transport UDP, unless the operator names another
Registration Register with the provider (REGISTER) — what they sell is precisely a SIP port, that is, an account. Confirm the mode at activation
Username The SIP port login from the contract or the customer account
Password The SIP port password

What to set up on the provider's side: order a number (012… or 060 4…/7…) plus a separate "SIP port" for every simultaneous line; say up front that the voice menu, queues and recording of their platform are not needed — your PBX does that; clarify the number format on incoming calls and the authentication mode. Applications are accepted from individuals too — the form asks for a passport number.

Pitfalls ⚠️ Charging is per line: two are included and each further one costs ֏1,500 per month, so a venue with several phones hits that ceiling sooner than it expects. And do not buy their Cloud PBX together with the trunk: it duplicates your own PBX.

Telecom Armenia (Team)#

The former Armentel and Beeline Armenia: a mobile network (91/96/97/99/43/33), the Yerevan fixed network with code 010, the regions and 060 in the ranges 8385. There is no SIP trunk as a separate product in its business catalogue (checked 09.09.2026), so there can be no "what to enter" table here: every parameter — server address, port, transport, mode, username and password — will come from the contract.

What it does offer publicly is a cloud Virtual PBX: it works only on "Optimal" plans with the 060 code or over a corporate network, service costs ֏50,000 per month, a multi-channel number ֏2,000, a voice menu and call recording ֏3,000 each. For us that is not a substitute for a trunk but an expensive competitor to it: routing, recording and call analysis are done by your own PBX.

How to order. Through the corporate department, and the conversation is worth opening with "we need a SIP trunk on an 060 number, the virtual PBX is not needed". The questions for the manager are the ones from the overview: the mode (registration or IP authentication), the server address and port, the codecs — G.711 or G.722 is required, because our PBX does not understand G.729 — the format of the number on incoming calls, and how many simultaneous calls are included. If the scheme turns out to be IP-based, prepare the static IP of your PBX — the "Server" tab in the Telephony section.

CrossNet, ATS.am and the other holders of code 060#

Who else sells Armenian numbers and what to discuss with them
  • CrossNet (Cross Group) — the first alternative fixed-line operator in Armenia (2003), holder of the Yerevan code 015 and of the 060 ranges 37, 40, 43, 4749. It sells fixed telephony on 060 nationwide: ֏4,800–10,800 to connect, ֏100–9,000 monthly depending on the plan, ֏1 per minute inside its network and ֏18 to mobiles; there are service codes for call forwarding *810, a blacklist *800 and number hiding *820. A SIP trunk is not mentioned in the service descriptions and no parameters are published. Ask directly: "a SIP account or trunk for an external PBX on an 060 number". If the service is sold only together with their own adapter, it is not what you need.
  • ATS.am (Advanced Telephone Systems) — not an operator but a business telephony platform and reseller: a cloud PBX, a call centre, multi-channel virtual numbers, short numbers, integrations, the account.ats.am customer portal. It sells numbers through a partner operator, and call recording there is configured "for all numbers or SIP accounts", meaning the account is an ordinary SIP one. There is no explicit "connect your own PBX" on the website and no published parameters, so there is no table here either: ask for a bare SIP account and a multi-channel number without their voice menu and queues, and clarify whose number you are actually getting — that determines whether it travels with you if you leave.
  • Arpinet, Netsys, Gtel, Hnet, Web, Arm Telecom, Hi-Tech Gateway — holders of their own 060 ranges under the national numbering plan, so in principle a number can be bought from any of them. None publishes technical SIP documentation and some of the websites do not open at all. These are candidates to call rather than to configure by the book; the conversation is the same — an 060 number plus a SIP account for an external PBX.

International providers with Armenian numbers#

If the local operator will not give you a trunk, or the company is not registered in Armenia, a +374 number can be bought from an international provider. Their parameters are issued in the customer account or by support engineers; the Telnyx card is already in the catalogue when adding a provider — the server address and mode are filled in automatically.

  • AstraQom — Armenian +374 numbers and a SIP trunk for a third-party PBX; it states support for "standard SIP (Asterisk, FreePBX, 3CX, Avaya, Cisco)" and setup by its own engineers at no extra cost. Prices: Starter $35 per month (1 line, 100 minutes), Corporate $105 (2 lines, 300 minutes), Deluxe $175 (2 lines, 500 minutes), an extra number $21, a one-off setup fee $6. The list of documents is not disclosed: the site only says that numbers requiring local document checks take longer to issue.
  • PBX.IM — advertises Armenian geographic numbers (Yerevan 10, Gyumri, Vanadzor), numbers in the VoIP code 60, toll-free and shared-cost numbers, and claims to work with licensed operators. There are no trunk parameters or prices on the page — request them from support.
  • Global Call Forwarding / United World Telecom — Armenian national 60, toll-free and geographic numbers, plans from $38.95 per month, forwarding "to any VoIP/SIP" and bringing your own PBX. Document requirements are not disclosed on the page.
  • Telnyx — the Armenia page exists and numbers are advertised, but their types and prices are not disclosed: check by searching for a number in their portal.
  • DIDWW — has no Armenian numbers: only termination of outgoing calls to Armenia, which gives you no inbound number. Zadarma — Armenia is not in its number catalogue at all (unlike neighbouring Georgia).
  • Twilio, Plivo, Vonage, Bandwidth, Sinch, Infobip, VoIP.ms, Sonetel — Armenia is not in their public coverage lists (09.09.2026).

A common pitfall: an international number gives no access to the Armenian 112, and such a number cannot be ported to a local operator. For the venue's only number that is a strong argument in favour of Ucom, Viva or OVIO.

Number porting#

  • Mobile numbers are portable between operators since 2014 under PSRC rules: porting is free, takes up to 3 working days, and a number may be ported no more than twice in 12 months.
  • Fixed numbers are not portable in Armenia. Portability was introduced for mobile service only, so a landline number 010/011/012/015 is tied to its operator forever: changing the operator means changing the venue's number. Choose the operator once and deliberately.
  • The 060 code does not save you: its ranges are assigned to operators by name as well, so you cannot move from 060 65… (Ucom) to OVIO and keep the number.
  • Check whose number it is now before the negotiations: the range in the national numbering plan identifies the operator unambiguously.
  • A number in an individual's name. OVIO accepts an application with a passport, while Ucom requires the company name and tax number for business plans. A number registered to an employee becomes a problem when they leave.

Rules and documents#

Regulator, licences, documents for a number, call recording, caller ID
  • The venue needs no permits. Communications in Armenia are regulated by the PSRC — the Public Services Regulatory Commission: it licenses operators, approves tariffs and rules and maintains the number portability rules. The Law on Electronic Communications of 2005 applies. You are the subscriber of a licensed operator, and that is enough.
  • The numbering resource is managed by the Ministry of High-Tech Industry, which also publishes the national numbering plan. The practical conclusion: only a licensed entity with an allocated resource may sell you a number, and the range always shows who that is.
  • Documents for a number. Ucom's business connection form requires the company name and tax number (ՀՎՀՀ), while OVIO's application form asks for passport details, so a contract with an individual is possible too. Neither operator publicly describes the terms for foreign companies without a local registration — that question has to be put to the manager before you pay.
  • Emergency calls. Since 15 February 2026 Armenia has had a single 112 number replacing 911, 102 and 101; during the transition the former numbers still answer and are transferred to 112. If your voice menu or staff instructions still say 911, update them.
  • Call recording. The Law on Personal Data Protection of 2015 applies; we found no separately published Armenian rule requiring an announcement about recording a call, but the practice is the same as in neighbouring countries: play a voice notice at the start of the conversation. It is switched on in the location settings; agree the wording with your own lawyer.
  • Showing someone else's number. The regulator publishes no rules on caller ID substitution, and in practice operators only let the numbers of your contract through on outgoing calls. Do not plan on "showing a different number" — see "Outgoing calls and Show as".

If it does not work#

  1. "Not registered with the provider" right after activation. A guessed address of the form sip.<operator>.am ended up in the SIP host field. Armenian operators have no such names at all: sip.ucom.am, voip.ucom.am and sip.viva.am do not resolve in DNS (09.09.2026). Take the address only from the activation letter or the contract; the Ucom platform answers a typo with a "Bad DNS Request" error.
  2. Incoming calls work, outgoing calls to landlines do not (while calls to mobiles go through). These are dial rules on the operator's side: the number must be handed over in the format it expects. Configure a prefix in the outgoing rule and clarify the format with the operator.
  3. A call arrives but the routing rule of the wrong line fires. The venue has two numbers whose last seven digits coincide (010 651234 and 060 651234, 094… and 044…) — see "Numbers in the country". Ask for different endings when ordering.
  4. The second simultaneous call drops. The plan's lines have run out: Viva has a ceiling of 10 calls with an extra line at ֏500, OVIO includes two lines with each further one at ֏1,500, and AstraQom plans include 1–2 lines.
  5. Registration is up but no incoming calls arrive. The operator has routed the number not to your SIP account but to its own cloud PBX — the usual situation with Team and OVIO, where the virtual PBX is a separate product. Ask them to route the number straight to the trunk.
  6. You cannot reach 112 from an Armenian number of an international provider. That is correct: such numbers have no access to emergency services, and it is not a configuration fault.

Causes that do not depend on the country are in "If calls do not go through"; the SIP trace in the trunk menu is described there too. Network and codec requirements are in "Network and compatibility".

FAQ#

Can I get an Armenian number if the company is not registered in Armenia?#

No Armenian operator publicly describes its terms for non-residents: Ucom asks for a company name and tax number on business plans, OVIO for a passport. Ask the manager before you pay. If a local contract is impossible, the remaining option is an international provider with +374 numbers — AstraQom, PBX.IM, Global Call Forwarding — but those give no access to 112.

Which number should I choose — a landline 010/011/012 or 060?#

A landline number is more familiar to guests: it reads as "a number in Yerevan". On the other hand 060 is the working numbering range of Armenian VoIP, and SIP on it is permitted in writing only by Ucom (the uPhone Corporate 3800 plan). A practical compromise is a landline number as the main one for signs and 060 as the trunk number if the operator issues it faster.

The operator offers its own virtual PBX — do I need it?#

No. A voice menu, queues, recording and call analysis are already in your Telephony section, and the operator's cloud PBX will conflict with them: the call would be handled twice. At Team such a PBX costs ֏50,000 per month. Ask for a bare SIP trunk and for the number to be routed straight to it.

What if the last seven digits of two of my numbers are the same?#

This happens specifically in Armenia: the national number here is 8 digits while a line is identified by the last seven. Calls will still be accepted, but a routing rule may fire from the wrong line. The simplest fix is to ask the operator for a different ending when ordering the second number; if the numbers have already been issued, route the second one with a shared routing rule rather than a dedicated one.

How long does connection take?#

There is no fast "in a day" path in Armenia the way Zadarma offers in neighbouring countries: neither Zadarma nor DIDWW has Armenian numbers. With local operators it is weeks of negotiation with a corporate department; with international providers (AstraQom from $35 per month) it is days, but without access to 112 and without the option of porting the number to a local operator later.
