FOOD CONTROL PLAN RECORDS PACK — DIARY AND TEMPERATURE LOG

Business: Business name FCP registration no.: FCP registration number Registered with council: Council of registration Day-to-day manager: Day-to-day manager Plan type: Plan type

This record is kept under the Food Act 2014. Most food service and retail businesses that prepare food operate under a registered Food Control Plan (FCP); for most small operators this is the MPI template FCP "Simply Safe & Suitable" (registered with the local council). A new version of the template is mandatory for all users from 30 April 2026. Lower-risk operators (e.g. packaged retail, B&B breakfasts only) may instead be registered under National Programme 1, 2, or 3, with lighter record-keeping and no plan document.

Staff with vomiting or diarrhoea symptoms must be excluded from handling food for at least 48 hours after symptoms end. 3. Opening/closing checks: Opening / closing checks 4. Deviations and corrective action taken: Deviations and corrective actions

PART C — VERIFICATION

8. Last verification date and outcome: Last verification date & outcome 8.1. The council (or an approved third-party verifier) periodically checks that the plan is being followed and that these records demonstrate it.

⚠️ Selling food without the required FCP or National Programme registration is an offence under the Food Act 2014.

— — — ⚠️ This is a boilerplate template, not legal advice. New Zealand employment, privacy, consumer, food-safety, and work health & safety law combines the Employment Relations Act 2000, the Holidays Act 2003 (under active reform via the proposed Employment Leave Bill), the Privacy Act 2020, the Consumer Guarantees Act 1986, the Fair Trading Act 1986, the Food Act 2014, and the Health and Safety at Work Act 2015 — several of which are mid-reform as of mid-2026 and change on fixed dates that this template flags but does not resolve for you. Have it reviewed and adapted by a lawyer or Employment New Zealand before use, check current guidance and free official templates at employment.govt.nz (including the Employment Agreement Builder at eab.business.govt.nz), and confirm the minimum wage and any other statutory rate in force on the date of use (rates change every 1 April).
